As an extension of himself and his influences, Julian Consuegra founded the Stray Rats, in 2010, streetwear brand, bringing a mix of hardcore punk, DIY design, '90s comics and extreme graphics. The rat mascot was inspired by Consuegra's idea of him and his friends as "a bunch of rats moving around the city or scene, getting what we could within the boundaries we had", as well as hardcore records from the 1982 Rat Music for Rat People compilation to the Subhumans RATS EP. Stray Rats have collaborated with New Balance, Carhartt WIP, Marc Jacobs, Vans and many others.
